Starina Novak and Prince Bogosav is a Serbian folk epic in decasyllable. Over wine, Prince Bogosav asks the old hajduk Novak why he turned outlaw, and Novak recounts the forced labor and taxes under Jerina that drove him to take up his pick and flee to the mountains. It is worth hearing for its vivid tale of injustice and resistance.
